In my last position I had responsibility for managing multiple projects in various disciplines, either for producing new products, or manufacturing cost reduction of existing ones. Tasks included all aspects of project management, either directly or by supervision: project concept, feasibility studies, financial analyses, equipment determination, vendor selection and negotiations, Gantt charts, equipment runoff, and implementation. Projects ranged from several thousand dollar equipment/process upgrades, to over $1 million for a new production areas. Worked closely with QA and Production Engineering to ensure equipment and process optimization. Also worked with various custom equipment manufacturers around the country. Technology involved included air pressure measurement and control, PLC and operator interfaces, machine vision measurement/inspection, and various other automation related concepts. Occasionally responsible for design concept and build supervision of in-house produced equipment that couldn’t be financially justified to be done externally. One such project was an electronically controlled calibration station, which I designed and wrote the program for, that became the standard for both the Berea (now Brazil) and Connecticut plants. Supervised maintenance men and lab techs for this and similar projects.Most rewarding assignment was as Project Manager for a new production area and the equipment to manufacture anti-lock brake (ABS) switches for Honda Accords. It involved my timely management of a $1.8 million budget, supervision of six engineers and the equipment they were specifying/obtaining, as well as heavy interaction and coordination with Honda QA and engineering in both Ohio and Japan (3 visits). This was most complex and expensive, and only automotive, project ever undertaken in the Berea plant.
