Establishing a self-funded start-up along with two MBA classmates, we acquired and built a domain name portfolio in the pay-per-click advertising space. Proceeds from the sale of this portfolio were invested in several early stage new media startups, including Redbubble, which eventually asked me to join as COO and CFO. My duties as CFO of Grattan Group Capital included:► Identification and assessment of investment opportunities and management of all financials► Tracking and optimization of the financial performance of the domain name portfolio► Application of analytical rigor to optimize the performance of specific domain name assets to increase their worth by over 50X ► Packaging of the domain portfolio for sale and leadership of the transaction process Our exceptional results led to the successful buyout of our domain name portfolio for a 10X return on a $250K investment.

An engineer by training, I led a team of 15 engineers and scientists providing test engineering services for fuel cell vehicles for the California market, with full accountability for a $20M testing budget. I successfully led the team to deliver a $5M fuel cell demonstration vehicle for the 1999 Frankfurt Auto Show under extreme time and budget pressures.As Program Manager for the Auxiliary Propulsion Unit (APU) program, I also managed the development of a small scale (1kW) fuel cell system for Freightliner and Daimler Chrysler, managing a budget of $10M.
