As the Dir of HR and Risk I was responsible for overseeing, administering, and participating in day-to-day human resources activities supporting District Management and staff including mentoring the HR and Risk Team in the areas of employee development, leave management, personnel records management, personnel policy and procedure administration, recruitment and selection, classification, salary and benefits administration, reasonable accommodation, labor relations, employee relations, risk management, and the interactive process under ADA. In this role I directed a department of four, supporting a total employee count of aprox. 215, with two separate Collective Bargaining Agreements representing three employee categories with the Teamsters.

High-technology and organic row/field crops, cattle operations, wine-grape vineyard, and natural resource extraction and preservation are at the forefront of the organizations.Serving in a multi-faceted role as the Assistant General Manager I oversaw and provided strategic-planning consultation to the Partnership and General Manager on HR, HRIS management, labor relations, operations, finance, accounting (full GL and P&L), safety, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, I managed both commercial and residential leased properties, and executed data analysis and auditing projects.

As the Director of Operations, Safety, and Training I was responsible for 71 employees operating 8 city fixed routes, ADA-Paratransit, rural services programs, and a specialty Chamber of Commerce driven trolley service. Additional management of a Bus-Stop Janitorial and Maintenance program was included in this operating location. Reporting to the Resident Manager, I was responsible for all operational, compliance, and regulatory aspects of the location including safety, training, recruiting, and revenue handling functions. This location, under the parent of RATP Dev, USA had achieved SMS compliance well in advance of FTA requirements and had obtained multiple accolades from the ridership and client in reference to a seamless transition and operational start-up.

As the Multi-Store ASM, under the direction of the Multi-Store Manager, I was responsible for managing and directing the Store Team Members to insure proper and efficient store operation. In addition to operations I was responsible for recruiting, coaching, training, safety education and implementation, employee and customer relations, as well as financial responsibilities including banking operations, scheduling, marketing, and inventory management. As the Operations Manager I directly supervised 210 transit employees including drivers, maintenance, and safety and training personnel. The HRT Paratransit (HandiRide) service covers 5 cities from two operating facilities with a fleet of 104 vehicles. The system operates 74 cutaway vans and 30 sedans. Utilizing Trapeze scheduling software and a tablet based GPS and manifest system we served over 1,500 daily trips in the cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Newport News. In addition to these cities, we serviced five major military installations within the region. In my first six months at this location on time performance rose from the high 80% range, to exceeding the targeted 95% OTP, a first for the contract’s performance. This workforce is represented by the Teamsters and I was responsible for labor relations as well as grievance and arbitration proceedings.

In the role of Recruiting Manager, I sourced both candidates and job orders in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, for the purpose of placing highly skilled finance and accounting professionals within organizations located in the market area. I utilized online resources, referral leads, and extensive research to identify both passive and active candidates within the F&A field. Additionally, through networking and targeted marketing, I identified needs within various organizations and assisted in recruiting highly qualified candidates for their open positions.
