Paperclip Agency started as a one-man operation from my home and from Doornroosje in 1981. Soon after people joined and the company name followed.The company grew in numbers in the eighties, touring a new breed of bands through a new phenomenon that we helped develop: a Europe-wide club circuit.The growth stabilized in the nineties, and Paperclip Agency became a household name worldwide.In the new millennium, the company focuses more than ever on quality, content, commitment and solidarity.

This is the small housing coop for the building where our office is located.

Bataforum is the Nijmegen Social Forum, a local counterpart of the World Social Forum and the European Social Forum.

Network Europe was an association for international agents, bookers, promoters and talent buyers. I started Network Europe in 1986. The informal network became an association in 2003.

As a regular customer at the local Van Nature health food shops, once a month I helped the shop out by manning a product presentation stand.

Local political/college pirate radio station in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. I was one of the DJ's for the Top 50 and, together with 1 or 2 partners, had my own show "Heartbreak Hotel".

I participated in public and other activities by the squatters movement, and squatted my own place in 1981 together with others. I also helped run the bar at squatters cafe. Also see Radio Rataplan.

I was one of 10-15 people working collectively on the 'alternative' music bookings at rock club Doornroosje in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. I spent most of my time on the phone speaking to agents etc.

In the seventies and eighties, I worked at three record shops in Nijmegen (all same owner): Pickup, Melody and Rebop Records.

After my protected middle-class upbringing, for a while I thought that my ideas of freedom were reflected in liberalism (in The Netherlands represented by a rather conservative political party). The LSVN was the student union close to this party.

During my university study, for a while I was the student representative in the Board of the Chemistry Section of the Faculty of Science.

I was founder and chairman of the LSVN department Nijmegen.
