TCL were appointed by the V AIMAG Organising Committee to provide consultancy advice on delivering a successful Games. When I joined TCL I was initially overseeing the early venue planning and development of 3 of the 12 competition venues. As the team grew, I took sole responsibility of the Equestrian Centre and off park training venues. When I joined TCL I was initially overseeing the early venue planning and development of 3 of the 12 competition venues. As the team grew, I took sole responsibility of the Equestrian Centre and off park training venues. Managing and coordinating works with very large numbers of key stakeholders, this was a challenging experience in a particularly challenging environment, but one I relished and learned a great deal from. At the outset of the project my role was primarily to review the existing venues and to provide a detailed scope of works through which the venues infrastructure could be raised to the level required to host an international event. This was done through maintaining a close and detailed relationship with all FA's and having an existing understanding of various client groups needs.This developed onto reviewing and assisting in the management of the delivery of these works. I found it more beneficial to be stationed onsite with the contractors. This allowed me to interact with multiple delivery partners at a time, review works, provide additional information/advice where required and address issues as they arose. I was required to adapt my tactics during this role as the environment is an incredibly reactive one.One of my key roles was maintaining the relationship on behalf of the Organising Committee, with the Government Ministries and the various external bodies. Working for WilsonOwenOwens Architects I was seconded to England 2015 Rugby World Cup as a Project Manager/Co-Ordinator across 7 stadiums.Initially I was based at Twickenham Stadium, RWC2015 head office, working alongside the Functional Areas during the final design stages. During the planning stage I was required to produce CAD drawings, periodically visit venues and attending Stakeholder meetings. I was employed to help co-ordinate and facilitate an effective installation and upgrade works required to each of the venues to host the World Cup games. This included guiding Contractors, FA's and Venues.I travelled around the country during the construction stage, over the months leading up to the tournament, throughout the competition and into the de-commissioning. Being the interface between the various Functional Areas/Stakeholders and Contractors. I oversaw the implementation and installation of the various overlay requirements on site; from temporary accommodation for press and television partners, upgrade works to team services and hospitality services, to the considerable improvement works to spectator areas, seating stands etc, not to mention the power and data requirements for such events.Post tournament I was responsible for the de-commissioning and reinstatement of four venues, including being present for the dilapidation surveys. The pre-games time role was primarily as AutoCAD support, requiring me to work as part of a team to establish processes and frameworks through which all G2014 working drawings could be produced. I was expected to liaise with Overlay Managers, Stakeholders, Functional Areas and the existing Venue Managers to ensure all relevant information was captured. As my knowledge developed I was given sole responsibility for producing drawings for Hampden Park (athletics and the closing ceremony), which included the final drawing release, as well as drawings relating to building warrant applications and setting out. My role then evolved into that of a Site Co-ordinator throughout the installation/bump-in period of construction. The knowledge I gained from producing the CAD drawings and collating all the information for various parties allowed me to effectively and confidently carry out my role on venue. Based primarily at Hampden Park Stadium, but also others, I was required to instruct, direct and manage Contractors present during the installation phase. This time allowed me to see many aspects of the architectural industry, my job was mainly clerical, locating files etc. However I was given the opportunity to sit in on meetings with clients as well as the occasional manual drawing work and CAD work on some smaller projects, although my technical engagement with the projects was understandably restricted this period gave me a fuller… Show more I was also given the opportunity to work in an Allan Boyd Associates, to gain work experience for a short period.
