I have worked for a total of 5 years as a draftsman in 3 well known organisations, most recently for the City of Gold Coast Design branch. I’ve been fortunate enough in this time to have met some inspiring draftsman, designers and engineers learning and sharing knowledge with all of them. I know that in drafting I have found myself in an interesting and rewarding line of work and enjoy the thrill that comes with learning something new every day as well as the excitement that comes solving a problem. I not only enjoy my work but take great pride and care in it believing that putting my name to something is a form of stamp or guarantee of a certain quality of work. Before Council I worked at Arup. Here I was part of the infrastructure team. I got the chance to work on some very exciting projects including Gold Coast Light Rail, Airport link, Brisbane Airport Runway Expansion, Moggill Road Busway Expansion project, Cairns Base Hospital Upgrade and countless number of roads. Arup was a challenging but rewarding workplace and the experience has served me well.In the Civil Infrastructure CAD team, my duties wereInterpreting engineering drawings, making markups, checking drawings, AutoCAD Drafting, Meeting tight deadlines, Managing large drawing lists and xreferences, managing spreadsheets and item lists and 3D visualization using 3D studio Max.Due to bad overall financial company performance, i was made redundant from this position, but I'm grateful for the many skills that i accumulated and developed in this role.

In Worley Parsons I worked in the Piping and Hydrocarbons team as a cadet drafter working on a few very large Oil/Gas and Energy projects. I got the chance to work on contracts for companies such as British Petroleum, Mobil and Shell. I also got the chance to work on the ZeroGen project. A project to create the worlds very first zero emission coal power plants. My role was mostly in the realm of process piping and involved sourcing information from a list a catalogs, interpreting that information and then recreating those items in AutoCAD, both in 2D and 3d. It also involed a lot of process piping with both piping flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s).
