Helped Commonwealth create the first in the nation multi-use ocean management plan for Massachusetts’ coastal ocean.

Specializing in philanthropy, organizational development, and marine ecosystem management issues. Provide strategic advice to government, foundations, not-for-profits, private consulting firms, and institutions of higher education. Manage all aspects of quasi-public environmental philanthropy focusing on water, marine and related resources. Create programs - leveraging over $50 million in private resources. Spearheaded first environmental license plate program in Massachusetts - the “whale tail” has raised over $18 million to date, increasing Trust’s grantmaking from $100,000 to approximately $1,000,000 annually. Create public-private partnerships, such as the Massachusetts Ocean Partnership Fund. Received 2006 Robert F. Bradford Fellowship for “Excellence in Public Service” - earned MPA from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government. Area of concentration: Leadership.

Conducted planning for the Midtown Cultural District, including preparation of urban development policies and controls, urban design guidelines, planning documents, primary research and analysis. Developed the nation’s largest cooperatively owned artist live/work space complex, the much publicized 220-unit Brickbottom Artists Project in Somerville, MA. Managed the Urban Design Department. Maintained quality control for all aspects of Development Division’s urban design projects. Concentrated revitalization efforts in 14 low/moderate income Boston Neighborhoods. Secured National Main Street awards for Roslindale, MA.

Initiated design and implemented over $2 million of capital improvements on commercial streets, parks, playgrounds and public sites throughout the city. Coordinated and managed negotiations with city and community groups with conflicting interests. Established priorities for land-use planning.

Managed urban design revitalization projects for Greater Boston regional planning agency. Prepared master plans and designs for comprehensive development and conservation projects. Worked collaboratively with staff, community groups and local governments to develop plans and secure funding.

Developed layout, construction plans and specifications for recreational parks, office sites, industrial and residential development. Redesigned planting and pedestrian circulation for Boston Public Garden, one of Boston’s horticultural treasures.

Developed landscape designs and supervised construction for highways, scenic by-pass roads, urban streetscapes, rest areas, and commuter parking lots, including interstate “gateway” to Washington D.C.
