Research insurance requirements and medical criteria to insure accurate reimbursement upon claims submission. Negotiate with insurance companies to reach one-time agreements for customers to receive in-network benefits for services, and relay these negotiations to managed care personnel to develop new contracts with those payors. Developed an Excel spreadsheet which calculates amounts paid by insurance companies and customer balances based on benefits quoted, resulting in a 50% reduction in time spent doing manual calculations.Developed Word documents for desktop faxing for requesting medical documents, applying for medical authorizations, communicating with patients, etc., which eliminated time spent at the fax machine and away from the phones.Co-chaired fundraisers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), increasing the visibility of the fundraiser and doubling the corporate donations.***Position was eliminated May 25, 2009, as Smiths Medical ceased to sell products to the diabetes market.***

Managed sales of insulin pumps and supplies to Canadian Market, both direct to customer and to pharmacies. Served as liaison between patients, doctors and insurance companies to provide product needed by patients to insure insurance coverage. Position terminated when Roche Diagnostics purchased Disetronic and moved company to Fishers, IN.

Worked as a liaison between patients, doctors and insurance companies to provide insulin pumps and supplies to patients and to assure health insurance coverage. Transferred to Canadian Sales in January 2002.

Verified insurance benefits and explained those benefits to customers, entering the information necessary to ensure timely claim payment. Created a special project to manage the special needs of air bed patients with all types of health insurance coverage. Created a special training manual for Customer Service to better understand the types of information needed to be able to verify patient coverage.
