  • Living Systems
Chief Technology Wizard, & Immersive Development Experience Creator
Living Systems Jul 2022 - Present
    * Conceived, designed and delivered Immersive Development Experiences (IDEs) within leadership and team development programmes for large corporate clients, including a leading Nasdaq firm.* The experiences combine the best of gaming, escape rooms, technology, and immersive theatre to create a new approach for accelerating leadership development.* All our experiences include Collaborative Adaptive Technology (a new definition pioneered by us). Collaborative = experiences where participants MUST work as a team simultaneously to succeed. Adaptive = emergent choices which change depending on the teams actions. Technology = innovation seamlessly embedded into the experience (e.g. VR/AR/IoT/electronics/bespoke software). These combine to deliver a groundbreaking and fresh experience for participants - unseen anywhere else.* For an increasingly VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world, leaders and teams can learn from experience, immerse themselves in activities, experiment with new behaviours, gain professional feedback on their impact, and adapt using the insights tailored to their unique selves.* Details and a marketing video for Experience 1 - “The Quest for Collective Intelligence” - can be found at www.QuestForCollectiveIntelligence.com

It’s the longest running Burning Man event outside America.* Burning Man has a community of over 10,000 in the UK, and over 100,000 in Europe. I consider a large part of my role to be in helping people believe in themselves to unleash their own creativity, through encouraging confidence in their abilities to bring whatever projects or themecamps they wish - taking their idea from conception to reality at an event. I also help through connecting the key groups of people together.* I’ve attended every Burning Man European Leadership Summit, which has been a fantastic source of learning for me in how to run immersive events smoothly. I've also delivered training sessions at the summits for the other European event leaders.

  • European Space Agency - Esa
    Solution Architect / Solution Owner
European Space Agency - Esa Jan 2020 - Dec 2021
London And Harwell (Science, Technology & Innovation Campus)
    * I took the leadership in visioning a roadmap of demonstrations for a new 5G Innovation Lab installed at ESA’s UK HQ - to bridge 5G with satellite communications. I created the initial architecture plans for the 5G Innovation Lab, and then concentrated on developing and personally presenting a series of demonstrations in the lab to VIPs including ESA’s Director General (worldwide head of the ESA), various Government departments (incl. BEIS and DCMS), the UK Space Agency, and CGI’s UK President. * I personally conceived, and designed the centrepiece Augmented Reality (AR) experience on the Microsoft HoloLens. The experience presents the technical benefits of 5G to both a technical and non-technical audience, building a vision of the future weaving use cases from smart cities, digital twins, autonomous vehicles, virtual healthcare, and immersive education. Within the AR headsets, ESA’s showcase room came to life with superimposed visualisations in virtual urban and rural landscapes, and spinning Earth globes. I created additional AR visualisations to show the real paths of orbiting satellites superimposed across the sky as the glasses looked up to the heavens. I delivered further demos through deploying groundbreaking Internet of Things (IoT) sensors across ESA’s European sites. I integrated an artificial intelligence and machine learning tool demo for the satellite industry. As the various lab demo offerings grew, I outsourced development to external subcontractors as well as internal teams.* I also delivered a lecture to Masters students at the London School of Economics (LSE), as the Masters students were conducting a study on innovation at our 5G Lab, and the economic opportunities it offered for businesses in the UK.
  • Greater London Authority
    Count Centre Manager (Cgi)
Greater London Authority Sep 2017 - May 2021
    * Direct management of two Count Centres during the same Mayor of London and London Authority elections (the only person in history to do so). This was possible as 2021 counts took place over two (due to enhanced Covid-19 measures).* worked at the same level of both Chief Executives (and Returning Officers) in the constituencies of Lambeth & Southwark, and Greenwich & Lewisham. Helped deliver training to approximately 200 council staff across each Constituency Count. I joined the council Project Board meetings with the Chief Exec's top team.* On Count Days, I managed the technical team of staff, and kept the Chief Execs informed and advised on how to resolve issues when found. I worked alongside the Returning Officer (RO) to monitor the IT systems from a central dashboard - and we led the team of 100 staff to ensure that all ballots were processed accurately and efficiently through the electronic stages of registration, scanning, verification, and adjudication. I assisted the RO in generating the final results printouts read from the podium.* I was involved from project inception in 2017 having co-authored large sections of the winning bid response. I'd introduced new ideas such as the creation of a Mock Count centre that was capable of stress-testing ballot processing of even the largest constituency (with 700,000 ballots guaranteed in 10 hours). This hitherto unassailable level of testing helped win confidence in our end-to-end delivery capability - and the successful award of the bid.
