I have spent 30 years in the construction industry. Having provided consulting services, worked for General Contractors as site superintendent, project coordinator and project manager. The past 20 years I have worked with private and public sector firms as a project manager, construction manager and assistant project manager.I have worked on large complex capital projects up to $400 Million in total costs. to small renovations and retro fits. Including unique projects. Such as Multi Storey Passive House residential buildings, 400 parking space garage/2 level administration wing/ 200 bus storage and maintenance facility, high end condominium developments, cogeneration plants, LED street lighting, facility energy retro fits, district energy installations, solar panel installations, wind turbines and cisterns. Rain harvesting system used for bus wash systems. Multiple heritage renovations including masonry work with under pinning. Managed new construction and renovation to recreation facilities, police/fire/EMS, library, parking structures, court houses, transit facilities, waste, water and wastewater plants, university buildings at UTM, McMaster University.I have worked closely with many and varied clients shepherding them through the feasibility stage, to budget and business case develop to procurement of consulting teams, contractor tendering, permit approval and occupancy. I have developed procurement documents for consulting and construction services, design-build, lump sum, unit rate and construction management. Provided management of the day to day construction activities. Trained junior staff on many aspects of delivering successful projects for clients. Working with clients to develop and implement a Project Management Office by providing input and feedback into document control and use, providing guidance on deliverables in the construction industry.In providing successful projects I believe in building the right team with the best firms and staff members, it has been my experience that a good team that enjoys the work they are dleliverying will provide the best results.
