Trading Technology is responsible for building the models and sports simulation tools that power Paddy Power Betfair's trading and pricing engines.We also build sophisticated real-time risk management and automation tooling for sports traders.The trading platforms we build handle billions of sporting events, incidents, and prices across millions of markets every month with latency measured in tens of milliseconds.Our risk management tools manage risk at bet, customer, and event level on highly active and liquid markets.Responsible for identifying, hiring, mentoring, developing, coaching, and retaining engineers, testers, engineering managers, architects, and analysts across my team of >100 people.Accountable for a significant (multi-million £) operational budget with a strong emphasis on budget discipline.Engage and manage relationships with key commercial stakeholders at Managing Director level across Risk, Trading, Sportsbook, and Retail.Member of the Product Engineering Leadership Team reporting to the Managing Director, Product Engineering.Member of the “TexCo” (Technology Executive Committee) composed of Heads-of across the CTO function.

Primary technical responsibility for an ecommerce platform serving millions of customers globally.Architected and implemented the seamless integration of a customised third-party loyalty program with existing ecommerce properties.Lead a successful migration of ten ecommerce properties from ASP.NET Web Forms to ASP.NET MVC.Lead technical efforts that reduced page load times by 30% whilst also reducing our server footprint by 25%.Managed and mentored a team of eleven including five .NET developers, two Python developers, a QA analyst, two designers, and a technical co-ordinator split between two offices.Managed several intensive vendor relationships including hosting infrastructure, payment processing, application performance management, and external development teams.Worked directly with the International Executive Team on all areas of digital and ecommerce related commercial and strategic planning from 2010 onwards.Part of this role has involved moving away from daily / hands-on coding and development however I stayed involved in our codebases with regular code reviews and occasionally pushing minor tweaks and fixes.Planning, and management of my team’s combined operational and capital expenditure budget.

Leadership and technical-expert role within the IT team for Ireland and the UK providing a full range of IT services to a central office of 50 users and a retail chain with a peak of 60 locations.Managed a Dynamics NAV installation including logistics, financials, merchandising, and point of sale modules.Delivered the technical elements of a project which streamlined GameStop's warehouse-to-store logistics process that resulted in a saving of over 100,000 people-hours annually.Developed a custom web application for recruitment that allowed a team of two to efficiently manage over 8,000 candidates during a single two month hiring phase.Developed dozens of improvements to GameStop's existing ERP, point of sale, and reporting systems which drastically reduced reliance upon costly external consultants for most small and medium enhancements.
