    Chief Scientific Officer
Stacked Farm Nov 2022 - Present
    Gold Coast
Stacked Farm is Australia’s first end-to-end fully automated indoor vertical farm. Underpinning the companies growing international presence is our research and development facility based at our headquarters in Queensland Australia. I lead the research and development division encompassing a dedicated vertical-faming controlled environment facility and a multidisciplinary team of plant scientists, horticulturalists, machine vision and robotics engineers.
  • Csiro
    Leader, National Research Infrastructure
    Csiro Jun 2020 - Jun 2022
    Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
The Australian Plant Phenomics Facility was a world-leading infrastructure facility that underpinned innovative plant phenomics research to accelerate the development of new and improved crops, healthier food and more sustainable agricultural practice. As one of three nodes across Australia funded through National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), the team at CSIRO specialized in developing infrastructure supporting field-based plant phenotyping research.
  • Csiro
    Scientist, Digital Agriculture
    Csiro Jun 2018 - Jun 2020
    Australia
Affiliated with The High Resolution Plant Phenomics Facility and Australian Plant Phenomics Facility we developed infrastructure supporting field and laboratory-based plant phenotyping research.
  • International Rice Research Institute
    Translational Research Scientist
International Rice Research Institute Nov 2015 - Jun 2018
    Philippines And Australia
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Translational Photosynthesis was established with the goal of improving the biological process of photosynthesis and contribute to a new yield revolution for food crops. Our research focused on exploitation of natural genetic diversity for photosynthesis in rice through Genome Wide Association Studies, analysis of rice genomes and physiology based approaches. It included interest in the development of new tools to measure and probe the dynamics of photosynthesis in the field.
  • International Rice Research Institute
    Research Fellow, Digital Agriculture
International Rice Research Institute Jan 2013 - Nov 2015
    Philippines And Csiro Australia
The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is an international agricultural research and training organization and one of 15 agricultural research centers in the world that form the CGIAR Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers, a global partnership of organizations engaged in research on food security. The institute aims to reduce poverty and hunger, improve the health of rice farmers and consumers, and ensure environmental sustainability of rice farming. Working with CSIRO in Australia, we designed, built and validated next-generation high-resolution and high-throughput phenotyping tools to support the institute's research and breeding programs.
  • International Rice Research Institute
    Research Fellow, Crop Improvement
International Rice Research Institute Apr 2010 - Jan 2013
The C4 Rice Project At The International Rice Research Institute (Irri)
The C4 Rice Project was a frontier research project led by the International Research Institute (IRRI). Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation it sought to convert rice to a C4 photosynthetic pathway, potentially resulting in up to 50% higher production all while using less water and nutrients. Our research focused on the identification, characterization and integration of genes required for C4 photosynthesis into rice. We demonstrated proof of concept with the production of the first biochemical prototype and identification of novel genes regulating photosynthetic function.
  • Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia
Consultant Scientist, Research Capability & Technology
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Jan 2010 - Apr 2010
Bangi, Selangor D. Ehsan, West Malaysia
The Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS) was the first systems biology center to be established in Asia conducting research focused on native horticultural crops. In collaboration with the University of Sheffield in the UK, the team established a metabolomics research facility supporting research, training and education.
