Head Of Hospitality
Project Manager - Catering Volvo Ocean Race
After successfully writing, presenting and wining the tender again, I am working with One Event Management and project managing the catering requirements of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18 edition of the race.
Head Of Hospitality
My role was to deliver Club AC which is the premier hospitality facility for all partners and sponsors of ACEA & Oracle Team USA (OTUSA).The event consisted of nine World Series Events in Portsmouth (x2), Gothenburg, Bermuda, Oman, New York, Chicago, Toulon & Fukuoka throughout 2015_16 which was then followed by the actual America’s Cup presented by Louis Vuitton event in May/June 2017 which took place in Bermuda. The requirement was to produce a first class hospitality experience regardless of the location. Some locations were more challenging than others with requirements in each varying dramatically. Total budget $9 million.
Project Manager
Successful in preparing & presenting the winning catering tender for the Volvo Ocean Race 2014/15 edition. What followed was a very interesting and exciting eighteen months.I project managed our whole operation. Recruited a core team of eleven people then set about setting up an infrastructure and introduced systems to manage this whole project. Was involved in every aspect of the operation from helping design menus, purchasing two whole sets of catering kit capable of catering for up to 1,200 people per day, researching and deciding on our chosen suppliers for food, & beverages staffing and all other ancillary requirements at each of the nine stopovers of the 2014_15 edition of the race.Countries operated in Spain, South Africa, Abu Dhabi, China, New Zealand, Brazil, USA, Portugal & Sweden.Total budget £1.5 million.
Project Manager
I was employed on a consultancy basis to help project manage Mecco/JOFF's Farnborough Air Show and 2014 Gleneagles Ryder Cup operations.
Director & Founder
An events consultancy firm created to manage major sporting events around the world. During it's time Crixus Consulting worked with various major sports rights holders to develop and enhance their events. Initially focused on hospitality, demand from our clients saw us successfully move into event management, sponsor activations, ceremonies and group travel.Over these years, I have held interim roles for many of our key clients including America’s Cup World Series, A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, BMW Oracle Racing team and the FIA GT1 World Championship. Further details of these projects can be seen below.
Founder & Director
Co-founded a recruitment company providing quality personnel to the UK’s outdoor catering market. I managed all aspects of the business administration, staff training, logistics and client liaison. After five years of continual growth, reaching a turnover of over £500k, the business came to an end when the UK Government terminated the 2 year South African working visa.
Operations Manager
I have taken on a ten month contract with Smart Hospitality an UK based catering company who have been selected to cater for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Hospitality Centre (OHC) at the forthcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi 2014.We are currently looking at 2,500 covers a day but with many other contracts still in the tender process then this number could increase.Unfortunately Smart did not in fact have a signed contract with the IOC and due to mitigating factors outside of my control, Smart were not confirmed with the IOC seeking alternative arrangements.
Paralympics Olympic Stadium Purchasing Manager
Working within a purchasing team of six, my role was to order all of the food required for the 42 kiosks that were situated within and around the Olympic Stadium. Due to the huge volumes of food required, combined with limited storage space, meant that large fresh daily deliveries and speedy distribution was required. Good communication between departments in association with clear strategic decisions ensured stocks were fully maintained throughout the twelve days and twenty two sessions of operation with limited wastage.
Olympics, Greenwich Park, Operations Manager
Crixus Sport helped manage the catering operation at the Greenwich Park site on behalf of the catering company Mecco. This project consisted of 5,500 covers over 13 days of some of the highest quality hospitality at an international major sporting event
Venue Manager
Managed the delivery of the first ever Naples race of the America’s Cup World Series. Guided the Local Organising Committee (LOC) through the whole process of organising what turned out to be the most attended sailing event ever held. Acted as a conduit between the LOC and the America’s Cup organisation ensuring that all aspects of the event were managed to the exacting high standards of an America’s Cup event.
Hospitality & Guest Experience Manager
Organised and sold the series’ VIP Hospitality packages to the Teams and sponsors of this prestigious International Motorsports Series. Sourced all suppliers and operated the facility at every venue ensuring that a high end product could be delivered at a competitive price.
Hospitality & Guest Experience Manager
Organised and delivered the hospitality programme both at the base and on the water for the team, their sponsors, stakeholders, friends and families at the 33rd America’s Cup. Due to the last minute nature of the contest this was all achieved under great pressure within a very short time frame.
Senior Event Manager, Hospitality & Catering
Accountable for all sponsor activations, paddock activities, VIP hospitality, catering acquisition, Teams & Crew catering operations, ceremonies and after parties. I was responsible for budgets in excess of $3 million which I was successful in reducing for two years running whilst still maintaining, if not in many cases increasing, the quality of service and standards. In each of its four years the series raced in 10 different countries across 5 different continents.
Corporate Sales
An internet start up company focussed on billing and payment solutions for websites. My role was twofold; to sell our products into the financial world and also to manage ad hoc projects when required.
Investment Trust Administration Manager
Promoted to manage the re-internalisation of the company’s Investment Trust administration from a third party. Set up and recruited a specialist team of eight people. Planned, organised and implemented the training and education of the team on the new products and computer systems. Shortly after a successful transfer, the company launched the most successful Split Capital Trust of its time.
Unit Trust Administration Manager
Successive promotions catapulted me into the Administration Manager’s position of a core team of eight that expanded to around twenty during the busy end of tax year periods. Managed all aspects of the day to day administration for what was at the time the most successful Unit Trust / PEP / ISA Investment Management company. Was also entrusted with all UK based dealings into Jupiter’s offshore funds.
