Board Of Directors Neme

Current
Network Evangelicals For The Middle East

We formed NEME to be a voice for peace and justice to the Middle East. One of our board members put it this way: NEME is "an initiative that aims to foster dialogue about Israel/Palestine among American Evangelicals across the political and hermeneutical spectrum, and be an agent of reconciliation and understanding. We want to encourage progressive and conservative evangelicals to listen to each other, learn from each other, and take steps to strengthen, rather than weaken, the prospects for peace, justice and security for all inhabitants of Israel/Palestine.In our view, Christian Zionists and non-Christian Zionists often adopt hardened postures and cast their opponents uncharitably as unbiblical, antisemitic, supersessionist, dispensationalist, racist, pro-apartheid, replacement theologians, heretical, you name it. We yearn to see evangelicals display less zeal to win an argument, and more eager to listen and learn from each other. So much is at stake, in our churches, in the public square, and on the ground in the Holy Land.”See the attached document we drafted that states our position

Academic Dean; Professor New Testament

Kononia Graduate School Of Theology

Livermore, California, United States

Ideator and main catalyst for an innovative graduate theological school in the East Bay Area of California. Recruited a formal board with Roberta Hestenes as executive consultant. Our vision was to holistically equip leaders for ministry and service in the church and in the world. Responsible for casting and shaping the vision of the seminary; establishing the curriculum and degree offerings, assembling a faculty, assembling the board, recruiting staff, reaching out to the local church community for support, raising funds.Koinonia GST was a brand new Leadership program we began in the Livermore valley. We aimed to provide an innovative curriculum and program that endeavored to truly equip men and women for service in the Kingdom of God. We wanted to transform men and women by means of courses, mentorships, interns, and communal fellowship. Our conviction was that seminary education was too time-consuming, too-expensive, and not holistic. For many, seminary education could take eight years or more to finish. The costs were exorbitant. And there was little to no investment in the individuals themselves. They simply took courses and if they passed them they received a degree "certifying" that they had achieved the things necessary for pastoral ministry. But we believed that more was needed to equip men and women for ministry. They needed to be mentored. They needed leaders to pour into their marriages and their personal lives. Their spouses needed encouragement and support. KGST was created to address all of these factors and more. Unfortunately, the economic downturn of the time made this endeavor unattainable. Our dreams lives on.
