The role reported to the Chief Executive Officer of Carter Holt Harvey Building Supplies which is a private company owned by Rank Group, the investment vehicle of Graeme Hart. It is the leading manufacturer and supplier of wood products and associated products to the Australasian market and serving customers around the world.With three business units comprising Woodproducts Australia, Woodproducts New Zealand, and Carters building supplies, the company has market leadership in the major wood products including timber, plywood, laminated veneer lumber, particleboard flooring and wood panels categories throughout Australia and New Zealand. WPNZ is the largest producer in New Zealand manufacturing and marketing a full range of wood based building products, including Timber, Plywood, Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL), Particleboard, and a range of Interior Decorative products, supplied from nine major manufacturing operations spread throughout New Zealand. In 2000 CHH acquired the Panels assets of CSR in Australia. This role was established as part of the post-acquisition team reporting to the Chief Executive and held Profit and Loss accountability for Particleboard and Low Pressure Melamine products and for the Strategic Procurement of Resins and related materials.Over time the scope of the role expanded to encompass all Particleboard products including Particleboard, Particleboard Flooring and Low Pressure Melamine. In 2005, post the acquisition of CHH by Rank Group, the role was further expanded to include all Panel products manufactured from Particleboard, Medium Density Fiberboard and Mouldings.Products were exported to a range of markets including Korea, South East Asia and North America

Reporting to the Chief Executive CHH Pulp & Paper Division with full Profit and Loss Accountability for the Matura Fine Paper Mill. Conducted and implemented a Strategic review that resulted in an industry restructure involving a swap/toll contract with an Australian Competitor, relocation of key equipment and the closure of the uneconomic Mataura Paper Mill.

New Zealand's only aluminium smelter is a tolling plant with annual production of about 260,000 tonnes of primary aluminium shipped in the form of ingot, billet, and rolling block.
