- Developing Progressive Web Applications for new company products (React, Redux, Webpack)- NodeJS api microservices- CI/CD architecture with Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes- Daily feature/bug/release development across multiple productsI have worked as the lead software architect for the company's next generation product platform, with a key result of reducing the time taken to integrate a new partner from 5-6 dev days to <10 minutes.This involved creating a single repository sharing 85%+ of code between all new products and a robust development pipeline with extensive test suites including end-to-end cross-browser journeys, visual regression, performance and unit tests, with 100% code coverage on all production code. The hard work done by my team to maintain these standards have resulted in just 3 production bug tickets being filed in a 10 month period.I previously worked on a high performance post-sales progressive web application, providing offline support for customers travelling without data access, and web push notifications. This required developing a push notification scheduling service using NodeJS with AWS DynamoDB and Google Cloud Messaging integrations.I am a strong proponent of free knowledge sharing and have taken part in many Coder Dojos, as well as lead internal technical discussion groups and I have spoken at DublinJS about the pipeline infrastructure we built and the free tools available for any developer to replicate it. I always make myself available to members of my team, and others, to assist in problem solving and I try to promote cross team collaborations.

- Designing and building web tools for internal use within the organisation using HTML5, CSS3/Sass/LESS, ReactJS/Jest, Gulp, PHP/Symfony and MySQL- Working with international development team creating new frontend experiences for users - Designing templates and page elements for TheLancet.com - Consulting international teams on tools and best practises for use in over 600 other public websites. I was brought on to the team to work on TheLancet.com's daily operations, managing content from multiple print and online editors for display on the website. I worked with other coordinators in international offices to help design, develop and implement a standard design across all Elsevier journals and helped develop a solution for managing the switch of more than 600 products to the new design. I then began working with the eProduction Development team, designing and building the frontend of a new internal tool to plan, track and release journal content. My primary role was to design, develop and document a mobile-first, test-driven frontend framework using ReactJS including a responsive grid system, element class libraries, graphing systems and integrating with a PHP/Symfony backend and presenting responsive data from MySQL databases.The goal of the project was give users an interactive, responsive web app that allowed them to update and track the progress of projects in real-time. Building this with ReactJS allowed for easier development through the creation of reusable components and extensive testing through Jest. I created a frontend workflow using Gulp to process Sass for better style compartmentalisation, Babel for use of the latest ES6 JavaScript features and additional libraries including Foundation and Google Graphs. I also introduced Git version control system to the project to replace the older Mercurial system being used previously.

I was hired to serve as a specialist to improve sales performance in Digital Imaging products within the Samsung Experience store in Stratford, London. This involved being the primary point of contact for customers interested in this area, and also training sales staff in Digital Imaging technology and theory.Part of my role also involved educating myself in the full range of products and services offered by the company so as to best serve customer needs. Although my stay at Samsung was brief, on numerous occasions I achieved Top 3 ranking in weekly sales performance and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the company.

- POS, Brochures & Flyers- Web Banners & Digital Displays- Inter-company Advertisements- E-commerce Product Retouching & ManagementI began at Camera Centre as a sales assistant but soon moved into creating and managing contenton the company website. This involved editing and uploading appropriate product imagery and descriptions approved by the companies, while ensuring that brand guidelines were followed.After a few months, I expanded my role to print and digital advertising, working on flyers and POS to web banners and in-store digital display systems. A role at the company was created for myself to generate advertising and to take over the visual identity of the organisation. Through this role I became a brand guardian, maintaining both our own image and that of product manufacturers. I consulted weekly with the advertising departments of large international companies such as Nikon and Canon to adapt their artwork into ours.I also took control of the company’s social media outlets, increasing our web traffic and our Facebook followers by 1,500% in five weeks through social interaction, viral content publishing and competitions. Part of my role at the company also involved IT management, creating a network of digital display systems throughout all of the stores which fed from a cloud storage system, keeping all stores up to date with the latest offers and adverts.

At Liam Donnelly Photography I worked as a photo retoucher for event photography shoots (weddings, celebrations, etc.). This involved retouching skin, poses and higher detail manipulation including correcting blinking issues and adding or removing people and objects from shots. Colour correction and print preparation were standard practises.This position first exposed me to Adobe Photoshop 4.0 and over the years I have progressed to every new generation of the software.

- Assisting Lecturers in teaching- Demoing equipment and software- Preparation of equipment- Contributing to marking and grading of workI assisted the primary lecturer in Audio Visual Computer Applications and Production for first and second year students. This involved preparing equipment and documentation for the classes, monitoring student activity within class hours and liaising with the School Technician for managing equipment. I was also involved in the marking and grading of submitted projects.I also developed a small video recording studio in an unused room, complete with camera and lighting equipment, a chroma key system and an editing suite. I consulted with the Institute's ICT department in attaining the software requirements and the School Technician to obtain cameras and other hardware.I taught members of the classes in the use of the hardware and software involved in the studio as well as principles and techniques that had not been viable in previous years.

- Adobe Photoshop - Adobe Premiere - Film Making I taught a number of digital media classes in Senior College Dun Laoghaire on topics such as Photoshop, film making and animation. The class lengths varied from one day workshops to two week courses with class sizes ranging from three students to over fifteen. I taught two modules of the Digital Creator certification course, Digital Images and Animation, which assisted the students in achieving the Digital Creator Award. I taught Photoshop-in-a-day and Photoshop-in-a-week courses, educating the students from the basics of the software to advanced photo restoration and retouching techniques. I was also involved in a film-making workshop where I assisted in the production of the students’ short films and taught them how to edit their films and to create a DVD with custom designed menus and media.
