A new maintenance department was formed in Solihull and Castle Bromwich in 2020 to support the installation of new facilities. Since February 2021 I have been working in the new Logistic Operations Centre in Solihull, supporting Commissioning Engineers, Standards and Controls, and Contractors. On an average day there is 120 to 150 contractors onsite and the site will be operational in 2022.

Primarily involves working on ABB robots, ARO welding guns, pneumatic fixtures, hoists, DC tooling, conveyors, PLC control systems, Induction curing and SCA sealant application systems. Involves application of a range of fault analysis techniques to ensure effective identification and development of appropriate solutions as well as accurately recording details of remedial actions and countermeasures implemented. Responsible for the Electro-Mechanical Maintenance and Modification of equipment within Caterpillar’s engine test bed facilities. Primarily worked on HVAC, water cooling systems, exhaust extraction, dynamometers, selective catalytic reduction as well as a range of bespoke systems and equipment. Included assisting Engineers in conducting technical investigations of current and future products, components and materials. Additionally took part in health and safety audits and contamination control improvement activities as well as collaborating with other teams and departments to undertake R&D activities.

Part of a small maintenance team responsible for planned preventative maintenance and fault finding of reciprocating gas engines, generators, electrical distribution systems, Gas plant and ancillary equipment used in the 24 hour operation of landfill gas power stations across the Midlands.

Suffolk

Responsible for the completion and coordination of planned and reactive maintenance activities on Apache helicopters worth in excess of £64 Million each. Ensured projects were completed in line with specified deadlines and specifications and that safe working practices and high standards of engineering hygiene were upheld. Involved supervising a team of 5-7 Technicians in all aspects of the planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and fault rectification for a fleet of 10 aircraft; typically working on 2 - 3 aircraft at any one time. Included mentoring and coaching Junior Technicians in all aspects of their job as well as undertaking the role of Team Manager during silent hours. Additionally handled independent quality assurance of maintenance activities; including undertaking independent inspections and stage inspections as well as verifying correct assembly and testing procedures were implemented correctly and supervising the calibration and testing of equipment and servicing of environmental control systems. Other key duties included overseeing the ordering and acquisition of spares and planning equipment and consumables requirements for future maintenance, including asset tracking. Also handled liaison with customers, senior management and outside agencies and organised resources for deployments in the UK and abroad, including managing aircraft transport and recovery.
