Equipment Development Technician - Metal Casting Technologies
CurrentI work with engineers and other technicians to design, fabricate, install, set up, test, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust manufacturing machinery and equipment, using any combination of machining, electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or computer technologies.Working from engineering drawings and work orders, I manufacture and/or repair machinery parts, prototypes and subassemblies utilizing our ProtoTrak CNC RX7 bed milling machine and our Prototrak CNC lathe. I also fabricate and repair parts using our TIG welder, Mig welder, oxy acetylene torches, plasma cutters, hand tools and precision measuring tools.Equipment Development duties:• Test and maintain machines and subassemblies for functionality and/or quality.• Troubleshoot problems with equipment or devices.• Build and install new equipment and subassemblies.• Set up and efficiently operate our Prototrak RX7 74" bed mill, Prototrak lathe and manual machines.• Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new equipment.• Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using precision measuring tools.• Inspect finished equipment or subassemblies for quality and adherence to specifications.• Maintain logs for inventories or materials.• Generate purchase orders for materials, tools and equipment.• Plan and layout work to meet production and schedule requirements.• Prepare production documents, such as standard operating procedures, inventory reports, • Measure and record data associated with operating equipment.• Provide advice or training to other technicians.
