My special interests include the molecular genetics of mobile elements, (non-LTR retrotransposons, NeSL-1) and genomic characteristics of emerging pathogens. My recent contributions include the following: 1. Characterization of the Ulp-1/SUMO-1 interactome of NeSL-1 in multiple species of Caenorhabitis (to be submitted for publication), 2. Comparative genomics and proteomics of NeSL-1 in Caenorhabitis;3. Ab initio identification of a potential miRNA in the 5’UTR of the nucleoprotein gene of Ebolavirus, strain Mayinga, as a possible cause for the differential virulence across species of Ebolavirus; 4. Identification and analysis of a ribozyme element in the 5’UTR in NeSL-1 of Caenorhabitis elegans with implication on Target-Primed Reverse Transcription5. Theoretical modeling of the DNA binding domain within the Endonuclease domain and terminal CCHC zinc finger of NeSL-1
