I am responsible for proofing and ensuring that all of the entries that will be included as part of the online Wind Instrument Makers Database (WIMD) that is set to be made public via the MIRCat website (https://mircat.org/) later this year are complete and accurate. MIRCat is a not-for-profit organization that exists to seek and administer funds in support of selected free online digital archives and databases, including the WIMD, that serve researchers, collectors, makers, and caretakers of historical musical instruments and to foster the continual growth and improvement of those digital resources.

I served in the Edison & Ford Winter Estates (EFWE) Curatorial Department as a curatorial and community engagement intern under the supervision of the Estates’ chief curator, Matthew Andres. The following are tasks I completed during this internship:o Inventoried as much of the EFWE’s extensive Edison cylinder and disc record collection as time allowed, including assigning accession numbers to, taking photographs of, and conducting preliminary condition reports for each item inventoried, and updating some of their PastPerfect catalog records.o Participated in the EFWE’s Step Into History educational programming by giving two 30-45-minute presentations.o Wrote a 2,350-word article titled, “Turning Wax Into Diamonds: The Edison Diamond Disc Manufacturing Process (1920-1929)” for the EFWE’s membership magazine.o Wrote two 1,000-word Artifact of the Week blog posts for the Estate’s website, the first being on the EFWE’s Model 44A Orchestrone and the second on a number of the items in the EFWE’s collection related to Henry Ford’s old-time dance revival campaign of the 1920s.
