About Robert Arnott
I have been involved in the energy industry for nearly 40 years: working for E&P companies, as an investment banker, an equity analyst and company director. Over the past few years, I have spent more time on the new technologies needed to deliver the decarbonization of energy alongside my role as Executive Chairman of Petrolia NOCO AS, a Norwegian E&P company. Over the past two years, I have transformed the company by building a young and diverse team keen to embrace new digital technologies and collaborative models which has already delivered a major new oil discovery. ESG principles are embedded in our strategy and we are well positioned to play our part in the energy transition. In 1983, I joined Shell International as a geologist before moving into a role in economics and planning. In 1991 I was headhunted into investment banking as an equity analyst and worked in leading firms including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. In 2001 I was invited to join to the prestigious Oxford Institute for Energy Studies where I researched the governance and strategies of National Oil Companies and also undertook a major joint study with Saudi Aramco on the impact of the energy transition on future oil demand. During this period, I advised on the establishment of Impax Environmental Markets PLC, one of the earliest green investment funds, and served on its board for 11 years. Impax now has £1.2 billion under management. For the past 18 years I have served on the boards of both privately owned and publicly listed companies. My hallmark as a director is to create and implement new value creation strategies. I worked with private equity firm Hitecvision as a director and advisor for Spring Energy, Core Energy, Oyster Petroleum and Rocksource. In the public arena I have served as non-executive Chairman of Petroceltic International PLC and Hurricane Energy PLC in the UK. In the case of Hurricane, I resigned in 2017 because of disagreements concerning the company’s corporate governance standards and executive conduct. Specialties: Corporate strategy, Implementing change, Digitisation, Risk, Valuation, Equity Research, Energy Transition, Climate change, Geology, ESG
Listed skills include Petroleum, Energy, Upstream, Geophysics, and 19 others.
