I began my professional career in the United States Navy in September of 2001. I served proudly as a Damage Controlman on board the USS Roosevelt (DDG-80). I was a member of the Roosevelt's Repair Division and Engineering Department in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. I gained invaluable experiences in leadership, mechanical maintenance,and industrial safety. As well as an enriched sense of self pride and patriotism.I departed the US Navy in 2005 to find out what the civilian workforce had to offer. I utilized my mechanical knowledge to work with a great team of mechanics at Tires Plus in Jacksonville, FL.Most of my coworkers were fellow veterans and helped me immensely in transitioning from military to civilian life. In 2006 I returned to my hometown, Libertyville, IL. Amidst some searching I took a job that I expected to be temporary, at Sims Metal Management-Rondout, I started as a laborer and quickly learned heavy equipment operation and maintenance. Within 1 year I was supervising a shredder production shift in Chicago. I would hold this position for 2 years until plant closures and a less than ideal economic environment would see me relocated to Rondout Iron & Metal Company in Lake Bluff, IL in 2009.As the Production Supervisor at Rondout Iron & Metal Company from 2009-2016 I really grew as a professional manager in a challenging industry. I am truly grateful for the time that I spent working with the world wide leader in metals recycling. In May 2016 I made a career change and began working as a PW maintenance worker. I have worked with the Street Departments in Skokie, Winnetka, and Lake County DOT, and Des Plaines. I am enjoying my new responsibilities and constantly developing new skills and experiences.
