Attend and participate in Syncrude’s various committee meetings: the Environmental Health & Safety Committee, the Laboratory Committee, the Emergency Control Team, Management of Change and Risk Assessment meetings.Responsible for the implementation and compliance of Syncrude’s safety standards for on-site contractors.Responsible for the issuing safe work-permits on the Syncrude site (both hot and cold permits) as well as for field level risk assessments; responsible to address and enforce compliance of safety standards.Develop and implement preventative maintenance systems for critical equipment and systems such as high pressure steam boiler, hot water and glycol heating and ventilation system, air conditioning system, high pressure air system, and nitrogen systems, ventilation system, hydrocarbon supply and waste systems, H2S monitoring system.Responsible for the maintenance of the off gas burner.Plan and coordinate fire suppression and alarm testing.Coordinate and perform fire drills in collaboration with the Emergency Control Team.Responsible for purchasing, operating and maintaining equipment such as forklift, skid steers and lawn equipment.Plan and coordinate building and office renovations, construction projects.Responsible for grounds maintenance including snow removal.Responsible for meeting with the custodian and industrial cleaning crew for the pilot plant and laboratory to discuss, coordinate and schedule priorities and specific requirements.
