I lead the aviation team in the Hong Kong office covering a number of airport projects in the region. I am project manager for Mott's share of the HK Airport 3rd Runway mega-project including the aprons, airfield ground lighting, airfield systems and airport planning studies. Other projects include the Macau Airport runway overlay design and construction support, Macau Airport East Apron reconfiguration, Mactan-Cebu Airport construction monitoring and ongoing airfield expansion projects at HKIA.

Seconded to the AAHK Midfield Concourse resident site team focusing on supervision and design issues for all airfield works, particularly the taxiway and apron pavements, AGL/markings, docking guidance and airbridges. My role includes reviewing the mix designs, visiting the quarries, overseeing trials and resolving site queries, while also assisting with the phasing of the airfield opening and obtaining licensing approvals from the Civil Aviation Department. Key challenges so far have been construction of new taxiway intersections in a live operational environment, and reviewing unusual sources for pavement material, notably re-used asphalt millings, and boulders from the site excavations crushed on-site. I have also supported both the client and the design teams during the planning of further apron expansion in the midfield area, which will soon see the whole island platform filled with parking stands!

Projects include Colchester Garrison PFI (8 months detailed design and 1 year site experience), London City Airport north apron/taxiway and Jet Centre extension, Bahrain Bay development, Oman Barr-al-Jissah hotel resort, Atomic Weapons Establishment refurbishment at nuclear licensed site in UK, and policy development at Metronet Alliance (London Underground refurbishment).
