I am very dedicated to the work that I have been involved in since completing my undergraduate coursework. I enjoy learning about the inter-workings of all the agencies and organizations with which I am connected through my current employment. I want to learn more about those agencies while meeting the individuals who receive supports, and also the individuals who provide the leadership and direct support to those individuals. Since completion of my Master's Degree in Social work, I have been working on program development within the Montgomery, Howard, Prince George's and Baltimore County regions. I am very familiar with the Developmental Disabilities Administration, and have an interest in assisting parents and individuals exiting the Public School system learn techniques for smooth transitions in Adult Services. I am currently on the Commission for Students with Disabilities Transitioning in Howard County; I also participate in a Transition Work Group located in Montgomery County. Both give me the opportunity to use my platform, as a representative of an Adult Service Provider, to come with ways to assist young adults, and their parents, with the transitioning process. Over the past two years, I have made several trips to Annapolis to speak with legislators and advocate for DDA funding. I met with numerous State Senators and Delegates (and their staff) to discuss the need for more funding of services that assist adults with developmental disabilities gain independence in their communities.I am very committed to assisting individuals of all abilities in becoming fully integrated into the communities where the live and work. I believe that every individual has the ability to succeed and achieve their goals.
