I have finally retired as The Finance Director at Rigby Taylor Limited after 26 great years.It has been a pleasure to work with some dedicated professionals and to help grow the Company .During the last 15 years I have been very active helping my Professional Institute CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) at both a local level and nationally.I am a former Chairman of The Professional Standards Policy Committee that ensures CIMA members operate in an ethical and professional manner.I am also a former member of the Association Board for the Joint Venture between CIMA and the American CPA.So this is a very interesting time when two long established organisations have come together to form the largest and most influential organisation within Accountancy. I was a Membership Assessor.In this role I assess the students Practical Experience before they can obtain their membership of CIMA. I am a Trustee of the CIMA General Charitable Trust .This organisation funds research projects to improve the science and practice of Management Accounting . In June 2012 I was elected to the Governing Council of CIMA to represent the North West of England and I continue in this role as I was re-elected in 2015.I am now timed out after 9 great years serving on the CIMA Council.I am now a member of the CIMA Benevolent Fund ,this fund helps CIMA members and their dependants that are struggling with financial issues in these difficult times.Specialities: I have now resigned as a Trustee of the Rigby Taylor Pension Fund which is a defined benefit scheme .The scheme has now been consolidated with the other 5 UK based defined benefit schemes and as such I feel I have achieved my objective which was to ensure the members benefits will be maintained in the future.
