• Prepare reports that detail traffic accident investigation findings.• Obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses or by analyzing accident reports. Identify case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of accident, detailed reports, or allegations of law violations.• Investigate traffic accidents to verify violations of federal or state statutes.• Record evidence and documents, using equipment such as cameras and photocopy machines.• Effectively map and draw traffic collisions and ascertain facts to help determine fault based on factors of the roadway, speed, and driver faultiness.• Determine scope, timing, and direction of investigations. Investigate traffic accidents to determine causes and determine if a crime has been committed.• Photograph or draw diagrams of crime or accident scene and interview principals and eyewitnesses.• Maintain records of accidents for US Army military installations. Photograph accident scenes and evidence records, and submit evidence to supervisors, crime labs, or court officials for legal proceedings.• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.• Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.• Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages.• Maintain filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems using a computer or manually.• Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports.• Type, format, proofread, and edit correspondence and other documents, from notes or dictating machines using computers.• Complete work schedules, manage calendars, and arrange appointments.• Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
