About Robert Bennett
I am the founder of a consulting firm, CFO Re-Defined. Using a multi-disciplinary, risk-based approach, I help leaders and CFOs maximise shareholder value as measured by return on invested capital.I have over 25 years of experience working with various companies across different industries to improve performance, increase enterprise value, and enhance resilience and agility. In addition, I train and coach CFOs and leaders on acquiring new interdisciplinary skills and capabilities required to win in an increasingly changing world characterised by increasing complexity, volatility, and uncertainty. Traditional strategic planning tools aren’t as effective as they used to be, and you can't afford to have a static approach to strategy in unstable market conditions, as the likelihood of failure is high. That’s why I developed a unique methodology that combines best-in-class strategy and finance tools to create a living, dynamic plan that is agile, flexible, and adaptable, ultimately maximising shareholder value over the long term. This methodology can be delivered through multi-channel modes, including customised workshops, online courses, and webinars. All you need to do is follow the methodology. The result? More money in the bank.In this continuously shifting market, I believe the focus shouldn’t be “How did we perform?” but “Should we alter course?”Want to know more? Keep reading.

Cfo & Founder
The traditional CFO is not sufficiently equipped for today’s challenges, and financial skills alone aren’t enough to survive in an ever-changing market. The conventional static strategic planning process is based on a stable environment where forecasting is relatively easy, which doesn’t work because this world no longer exists. Leaders and CFOs need a new mindset of transforming strategy into a continuous process. As a result, these companies will pull ahead and stay ahead of those clinging to the old approach. This framework is based on and enables the following:• Focusing on strategic planning as a continuous process using a multi-disciplinary, risk-based approach that optimises shareholder value as measured by return on invested capital.• Responding to an increasingly changing and uncertain environment by developing a dynamic living plan that identifies no-regret moves, strategic hedges, and options, runs experiments before locking in investment, and provides prescriptive surveillance.• Simplifying the strategy-making process using an easy-to-follow methodology translated into actionable plans, enabling continuous board, committee, and management surveillance.• Upgrading the organisation by developing new capabilities, upskilling the workforce, integrating divisions and head office, and delegating authority to the right levels.• Outperforming the competition by focusing on the future, identifying the gaps and opportunities, and measuring performance using financial and non-financial metrics.
President
Future Found Sanctuary is a seven-acre, five-star luxury hotel in the foothills of Table Mountain, consisting of two exclusive villas and nine luxury rooms. After being approached to run it, my mandate was to get the Sanctuary to break even. During my time, shareholders and I realised we lacked the capabilities, reach and networks required to put the Sanctuary on a financially sustainable path. I identified a suitable management company to partner with the Sanctuary that had the capabilities we lacked and was instrumental in concluding the management agreement between Future Found Sanctuary and Newmark Hotels.Once the agreement became effective on 1 June 2023, my services became redundant, and I exited at the end of June 2023. Upon leaving, I had achieved my mandate to put the Sanctuary on a path to a sustainable financial future.
