In this position traveled to offshore facilities to access local operational stock requirements and negotiated volume discounts from various suppliers, and improved the system for ordering of platform workers survival suits. In 1986, he was promoted to the position of Training Administrator and in that job he produced and marketed the first edition of Shell’s Southern Operations Training Manual, which involved establishing a computer database of some 200 training courses including vital ISO safety compliance. The completed Manual was distributed throughout the Shell organization.
