I provided bioinformatic support across the organisation, working to validate and prioritise novel drug targets.

Continued research in the Szabadkai lab investigating mitochondrial dysregulation in cancer. My work involved further development of the MCbiclust software as an R package as well as analysing large omics data sets.

Joined as part of the 7th Cohort and with a cofounder aimed to create a biotech startup developing new methods of finding disease biomarkers using sophisticated machine learning techniques.

I was co-supervised by Prof. Gyorgy Szabadkai and Dr. Kevin Bryson. My primary research focus was in bioinformatics, involving investigating the transcriptomics of mitochondrial biogenesis in pathologies such as cancer and heart disease. This involved analysing big data sets using the R programming language looking at the RNA expression of thousands of genes across hundreds of clinical samples. To do this I developed novel bioinformatic methods, including a biclustering algorithm, MCbiclust available as a R package on bioconductor.During this time I was also been highly involved in the lab, learning experimental techniques, to test hypothesis created during the bioinformatic analysis, and have also supervised an undergraduate student during their experimental project.
