Tool Design Engineer
Mechanical Tool Design engineer supporting vehicle structural design and manufacturing capability for the JSF-35 fighter jet program. Position utilizes CATIA-V5, a Windows based CADD development program allowing design sharing across a Windows based network environment. Position focus includes the development of mechanical tool designs for detail parts through the integrated vehicle assembly. Specific responsibilities include design and drafting of mechanical tooling in support of the manufacture of ferrous, non-ferrous and composite detail parts, through and inclusive of assembly tooling for the production & integration of the vehicle. Extensive use of machine fixtures, composite mold surface design, assembly jigs, and rough and finish machined weldments are included in the effort. Project management tools such as “Earned Value” measured against estimated budget and schedule are deployed across the entire program, and are the responsibility of all designers. Prime focus of design effort was centered on the development of the tooling for manufacturing capability of the FWD and AFT portions of the bi-fricated Inlet-Duct for the JSF.
