Bedrock was a project to aid developers in writing applications, and in porting those applications to other platforms and other countries. Bedrock differs from other similar products like CommonView and XVT in that Bedrock concentrates on system level functionality, and primary GUI interface components. This allows the application programmer to concentrate on their application and not the common code for all applications. Another major feature of Bedrock is its International support which handles a majority of the international concerns for applications, including character set mapping and translations, handling of single, double and multiple byte character sets, date, time, currency, and number formatting and validation.
