Founded the Bedrock Cross-Platform Development Project. Bedrock was a project to aid developers in writing applications, and in porting those applications to other platforms and other countries. Bedrock differs from other similar products like CommonView and XVT in that Bedrock concentrates on system level functionality, and primary GUI interface components. This allows the application programmer to concentrate on their application and not the common code for all applications. Another major feature of Bedrock is its International support which handles a majority of the international concerns for applications, including character set mapping and translations, handling of single, double and multiple byte character sets, date, time, currency, and number formatting and validation. I was responsible for starting Bedrock and all it's initial architecture, including all of it's international support, and the implementation of 30% of the current code base. While Manager of PC Development for the Living Videotext Group of Symantec I managed the initial work, which evolved into Bedrock. This project explored the task of taking MORE, an outline, word processor and presentation system, and porting it to Windows and OS/2. Managed both programmers and QA personal. Established procedures for the mastering of products to ensure quality product. Established QA as part of product design to allow better white box testing and more cooperative environment between QA and engineering.Developed Ready! the first resident application to reside in expanded memory. Responsible for the DOS Virtual Memory Management for Q&A 4.0. Designed and implemented the text engine in MORE and MORE II. Designed and implemented the products Ready! and ThinkTank. Designed and implemented the world's first OS/2 product. (ThinkTank 2.41 OS/2 on 12/4/87).
