I am a private client lawyer partly because I particularly value long-standing client relationships and the chance to build a rapport with client families over many years. This has repeatedly happened through my career, and a good proportion of my work is now for families who I know very well indeed, which is extremely satisfying.I am known for the following work:Trusts – working for trustees, beneficiaries, claimants on a wide range of issues affecting trusts governed by UK law and other trust laws.Succession planning – helping families and businesses to chart a way through the complex territories of trust and succession laws, tax law and not least, family dynamics. Unusually, in the current world, my practice is very broad and not limited by a particular geography. For instance, as well as a multitude of UK clients (business owners, landowners, professionals, art collectors) I have a number of very good and long-standing relationships with clients and families all over the world, including for example in the Middle East.Art and heritage – I have always acted for art collectors, gallery owners and others involved in succession issues relating to valuable artworks. I frequently assist clients to access the acceptance in lieu and conditional exemption regimes, which have enabled some of our greatest UK art collections to remain intact and on display to the public.
