Seasoned senior executive with broad range of expertise and knowledge, including experience working in areas of public policy, international trade, governance, public/private sector partnerships and initiatives, grants and contribution programs, finance, research, transformation and corporate management in government and a not-for-profit farmer association. Strategy development and visioning, coaching and leadership development all continue to be key areas of interest.Spent just over three years as the Vice President, Advocacy with Dairy Farmers of Canada and previously worked within the executive ranks of the public service, including Public Safety Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Adept at establishing and maintaining networks and effective working relationships across federal departments and agencies, Indigenous peoples, non-profits, other governments and industry organizations. Studied at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College of Dalhousie University, obtaining a diploma in Animal science in 1980, and went on to complete my BSc at the University of Guelph. I later completed a Masters at McGill University as well as a PhD at the University of Saskatchewan, both in economics, with a focus on agriculture.While born and raised on a dairy farm in PEI, spent time in various regions of Canada including Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba early in his career. Since the 1990’s have been based in Ottawa, while managing various regional offices across Canada from time to time.
