Direct operations in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Code 338 Fleet Support Office. Responsible for assuring that all of the Shipyard’s off-yard work and testing is planned and executed to the high standard of quality, on time and within budget. Provides the ability for the Shipyard to respond to emergent fleet requirements in support of mission critical repairs and logistic support, including the monitoring, coordinating, evaluating and directing the Shipyards effort in planning and executing all scheduled and emergent off yard availabilities. Ensures that effective planning, preparation and accomplishment of all HM&E and Combat Systems production work during off yard Depot Repair Availabilities (DRAV), docking and waterborne Continuous Maintenance Availabilities (CMAVs), off-yard Pre-Inactivation Restricted Availabilities (PIRAs), and Emergent Repairs to deploying submarines is accomplished. Also, oversee the installation of Valve Regulate Lead Acid Battery (VRLA) Ship Alteration and cell change out. Delegate supervisory role to individuals and team leaders as they execute work for off yard availabilities including personnel from the Nuclear Engineering and Production Departments, the Engineering and Planning Department, and the Quality Assurance Office

Responsible for policy formulation, overall detachment planning, directing, controlling, and implementation of PNSDET-SD programs as they relate to the mission and responsibilities assigned by the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT).Responsible for taking the lead in executing complex, politically sensitive, and difficult policy changes, directives, and investigations required to manage the reassignments of senior personnel or researching means of increasing managerial efficiency or productivity. Serves as the execution officer for many policies and decisions implemented by the Command. Interfaces with PACFLT negotiating funds and is held accountable for the budget of the Detachment. Maintains awareness of detachment activities with emphasis on the technical adequacy as well as cost and schedule performance of all technical and support tasks. Interfaces with the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department, PACFLT, Shipyard, Detachment personnel, as well as higher echelons in scheduling/accomplishing work.
