Life changes constantly in our dynamic society. Social trends fade into obscurity. Political events lose influence as quickly as they acquire it. And even friends come and go. There is only one constant in my life: math. From quadratics and systems in algebra to derivatives and integrals in calculus, math absolutely dominated my academic life. When I entered college, actuarial science was an easy choice. The intuitive applications of calculus in Probability. The mathematical techniques of problems in Financial Mathematics. The wide variety of concepts in Investments and Financial Markets. Despite the time investment, they all thoroughly intrigued me. But math led me to places I never expected. Due to my coding courses, I applied my actuarial knowledge to realistic situations. I performed sensitivity, break-even, and scenario analysis in Microsoft Excel. I automated a rate-making macro with a loop in Visual Basic for Applications. I constructed and evaluated several generalized linear models in R. My passion for math instilled in me an enthusiasm for coding.It brought me so far. I cannot wait for where it will take me next.
