I am currently studying the Legal Practice Course at The City Law School, City, University of London, which I will be finishing this summer. I completed my LL.B at the Open University last year with first class honours whilst working in the Windsor area as a manager at the Royal Stag and the Boatman in Windsor.I would like to start a training contract to develop experience in business law, employment law and the law of property. I achieved a distinction in Company Law in the Open University’s LLB course. Following this achievement, and to broaden my knowledge on a more practical level, I secured a work experience opportunity at Debenhams where I gained an understanding of how a commercial legal section works in practice. During my time at Debenhams my main roles were drafting the regulatory notices for their AGM and an amendment to their Articles. I also spent time with one of their commercial solicitors with a focus on copyright infringements regarding their website.Employment law has been an interest of mine since studying my LLB and as such, I have tried to gain as much experience as possible. I have now chosen to study Employment Law as an elective in the Legal Practice Course and will begin my pro bono work in the Law School’s evening advice clinic. I have also spent two weeks at Emplex in Datchet where I was shown how to interview clients to gain the necessary information required to proceed with a case, research successfully, prepare letters to clients in reply to requests for information and how to draft compromise agreements. Furthermore, I am also currently studying Property Law and Practice, which has become another of my favourites. In my bachelor’s degree I gained a distinction in Land law. The experience I have gained from my managerial roles include maintaining financial and regulatory records in a diligent manner, a high level and passion for client care and the ability to organise and motivate a team.
