Trained as a neurobiologist have always enjoyed anatomy as it is one of the "great humblers" as we willl never know everything!!! I have been teaching gross anatomy of domestic animals for more than 30 years now with the last 18-20 being focused upon the horse's foot.The foot continues to amaze me as we humans think it should function one way but in reality it is functions in a totally different manner!!!!! The very "neat" thing about the foot is that it adapts to whatever we want it to do, whether to have the foot move on conformable surfaces versus hard unforgivable surfaces!! I believe that if we placed ice skates on the horse's foot it would adapt and continue to survive in its environment. HOWEVER, there are consquences if we diverge too much from what Mother Nature, evolution, etc intended to have the foot do!!
