• Led the team designing the 'Asynchronous Consume' function a major new feature of Websphere MQ v7.0 and implemented it for z/OS batch and CICS environments.• Invented and implemented a cooperative browse mechanism to solve problems that prevented multiple dispatchers accessing a shared work queue. Filed two patents as a result of this work.• Redesigned the MQ-CICS bridge to utilize the new cooperative browse and remove major impediments to its use by customers.• Invented a novel way of recovering a message database following storage medium failure. The mechanism has been patented and is faster than traditional recovery techniques.• Other areas include:- Assisted major customers - Organised the MQ presentations for the CICS Architecture Forum, a regular customer design seminar.- Provided design and direction for IBM Russia to implement a platform independent REXXinterface to MQ- Worked with product service organisation to resolve defects- Developed customer sample programs in C and Cobol- Maintained ISPF panel interface to MQ- Designed and implemented Log compression

• Brought the CPSM (CICS Plex system management) product in house from a vendor integrating into the CICS library and build systems• Designed and implemented the CICS interface to the MVS system logger including using the Subsystem interface to allow a log stream to be accessed as if it was a data set. • Collaborated with the MVS logger developers to ensure it met requirements and resolve problems As CICS was the first major product to use the system logger.• Maintained and enhanced the CICS library control system
