Building on prior roles, I stepped into this position with the experience necessary to direct quality healthcare improvements and clinical initiatives by leveraging data collection and analysis. In addition, I train and mentor other team members to ensure consistency of processes and integrity of data collection. Taking data analysis to a deeper level, I now understand its applicability to evaluating financial performance, then give my recommendations to top level leadership. Processes I put into place yielded dramatic increases in productivity, lowering outgoing expenses. Seeing tangible results of my work is deeply rewarding and humbling.

My experience in a healthcare/hospital atmosphere made the transition to real-world data a natural segue. I continued to use my expertise with programming, analytical, and statistics to give insight into what business-level decisions, as well as how to make them. I served primarily to consult with managers and directors regarding study design to lead quality health care improvements.Together with the rest of my team, I worked to pull out relevant data which had implication on health improvement initiatives and supported clinical quality progress. This integral role ensured the organization’s ability to receive data from multiple sources, working collaboratively with business and IT teams. As a result, we determined what resources were needed to closing gaps identified in data collection and analysis.

Having worked with data sets in a health quality improvement environment, I now took my understanding of manipulating data into a major hospital and research facility to continue honing my specialties. Through collecting and monitoring it through the process for integrity, I brought meaning out of raw data in order to influence decision-making.During this time, I also had the privilege of guiding graduate student assistants, with how to use the data, what to investigate, and what procedures to use to get what they needed from it. I created data sets for them, assisting in growing in their analysis skills based on the studies they were working on. I saw the benefits by giving them experience in real-world situations for doing their own research, seeing the thought processes on how to begin research and walk through steps of cleaning data.Using a variety of methods, I worked to make data the basis for how to educate and actively facilitate incorporating information into refining healthcare processes. I operated with the goal of taking what was learned on one day transform healthcare in the days which followed, making a real difference in people’s lives.
