From part-time office assistant in 2008, to Department Head in 2012, I got to experience nearly every role in this laboratory. The roles I have succeeded in here include: customer service rep, lab technician, organic analyst, inorganic analyst, and department manager. To work my way up the ladder has given me a unique perspective on the logistics of running a successful laboratory. Though perhaps my most valuable experience was gained during my time as a department head. Some of my responsibilities in that role: ● Control and delegate workflow● Maximize efficiency by bringing in new sample preparation and analysis technologies● Resolve employee conflicts● Maintain laboratory standards and regulations to retain accreditation from The North EastLaboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) Institute● Create an Emergency Action Plan for both local emergencies and national disasters● Update certified methods and parameters● Write and revise all relevant SOPs● Conduct special analysis, including forensic studies for identifying sources of contamination● Create historical databases and tables to compare and contrast data of similar composition, as a means to predict future analysis

I've learned so much about sales, customer service, retail, and animal care here. My first job that ever gave me any real responsibility, it instilled the core values that have made me into who I am today. Work with disgruntled customers, be a product expert that can educate customers on animal care, and open and close a store on my own; these are skills that I still use on a daily basis.
