The overarching goal of my research is the prevention of preventable birth defects. I am dedicated to developing and applying scientific models to rigorously evaluate the impact of gene-drug and gene-environment interactions during pregnancy. My research integrates a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing the fields of pharmacology, biochemistry, genetics, maternal health and nutrition, embryology, stem cell and 3-D organoid culture, and developmental and reproductive toxicology. Through this methodology, I aim to advance our understanding and create impactful solutions for maternal, embryonic, fetal, and postnatal health. To expand the scope and translational impact of my research, I am leading the development of treatments for rare neurodevelopmental diseases.
