General Medical Services

Leader of a commissioning group that looked at alternative models of commissioning healthcare on behalf of local GPs in Perth & Kinross. This examined identifying local healthcare needs and liaising with the local Health Board to fund and introduce change that addressed inequalities in healthcare. I also led the successful closure of an out-dated and unsuitable long-stay geriatric hospital (36 beds) in Perth. This resulted in the successful relocation of all residents to appropriate alternative care provision. I was also responsible for the successful relocation of four individauls with severe learning disabilities to a purpose built Group Home with round-the -clock care

I underwent a period of training with rotation through Acute Services, Infectious Disease, Health Promotion. During this time I completed a Masters degree in Public Health.
