Led transfer of reactor systems and division from shipyard layup, including plant recertification, to underway operations. • Selected by the Captain and assigned to the machinery division to identify and correct deficiencies in advance of a Nuclear Propulsion Engineering Board (NPEB) inspection.• Closed more than 150 maintenance items and required divisional training requirements in less than one month resulting in a NPEB inspection with no major deficiencies.Assistant Weapons Officer: Led four weapons divisions with approximately 40 personnel. Responsible for all aspects of ship's combat systems through a deployment and pre-deployment inspections. • Selected by the captain and assigned to the weapons department in advance of a Tactical Readiness Evaluation Board (TRE) inspection.• Reformed and revised weapons programs resulting in successful completion TRE enabling certification for deployed operations.Quality Assurance Officer: Responsible for the quality assurance and SUBSAFE program through several overhauls, supervising extensive work activities essential to safe submarine operations. • Raised ship wide knowledge of quality programs through extensive training resulting in a significant improvement in the delivery of critical ship repairs without rework. • Directed a rigorous audit and surveillance program ensuring proper deficiency identification and continuous process improvement for maintenance practices resulting in an “above average” external evaluation of a previously struggling QA program.
