I do occasional article- and report-writing for New Narrative, a Hong Kong-based writing consultancy. New Narrative is run by a group of former journalists and editors who have worked at a range of media firms including Thomson-Reuters, The Economist Group and Hearst.

Over a period of several years, as the book evolved, I edited my brother's healthy ageing masterpiece called "Younger for Longer: How You Can Slow the Ageing Process and Stay Healthy for Life". It was published by Little, Brown's imprint Robinson Books in late 2018 to excellent reviews.

Between mid-2009 and mid-2013 I was also the country correspondent for the German Press Agency dpa. Subjects covered included the Khmer Rouge war crimes tribunal, politics, health, economics, education, agriculture, poverty, landlessness and the environment.

My first book was published in April 2015 by Asia Horizons Books, and was picked up by Little, Brown's subsidiary Robinson Books in 2019. Through the lives of five people and spanning five decades, it assesses the causes and consequences of the Khmer Rouge's 1975-79 rule of Cambodia. I also wrote a 12,000-word article on the IFC’s involvement in the garment sector’s Better Factories Cambodia program, and worked with IFC’s team to create material for its rice intensification programme.

The Phnom Penh Post is Cambodia's oldest English-language newspaper, and my role included:• Managing a staff of 10 Cambodian and foreign reporters.• Commissioning and editing news and feature pieces, and ensuring accuracy in content, style and grammar.• Planning the newspaper and working closely with the production editor to ensure print deadlines were met.• Training new reporters in journalism and in Cambodian political, economic and social affairs.• Photographing and writing news and features.

I worked for Charity Finance, the leading finance magazine for the UK’s voluntary sector. The magazine is targeted at chief executives and finance directors of UK charities, and focuses on investment, finance and law. My role included researching and writing news and features, as well as conducting financial and statistical analysis on the 350 largest charities in the UK.
