In this position I worked under the Billing Manager and over saw the daily operations of the billing team. The billing team was made of 5 teams totaling about 60 employees working under me. Had a customer service team, a claims team, a collections team, a payment processing team, and a document processing team. The practice bought and started using a new billing soft wear which I was very involved in getting set up, programmed and running. The soft wear was much more automated then the old system that was being used.

    I started in the government-billing unit. Doing online billing of Medicare and Medicaid claims. I did a couple of special projects for the department director. One of which I went through and re-calculated the out-layers paid on Medicaid in-patient claims for 18 months. In doing so I found over $10,000,000.00 in under payment due to the hospital. I was then transferred to the commercial high dollar unit. Working closely with my manager, I worked on the oldest and highest balance due accounts. The units aging got better and better. Then in March of 2002 I was promoted to the Billing Supervisor at the School of Medicine Department of Ob Gyn. I over saw the daily deposits and checking that the payments were correct per contracts. Watching that the adjustments were posted correctly, and posting all payment. Working with the accountant to balance the books every month. I had a staff of 5. Dr. Adashi, the department head, had set a goal 7 years earlier to have the department collect $1,000,000.00 in a single month. After just 4 months of me having some new policies in place, we reached that goal.
