Lt. Chan was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) as Commander of the Assault, Theft and Field Support Section. This CID Section is responsible for all theft-related investigations, including fraud, forgery and financial crimes, all misdemeanor crimes, weapons cases, fugitive extraditions and in-custody charging. Lt. Chan was also the Departmental coordinator of OPD's county/regional/federal task force officers (DEA, US Marshals, US Secret Service, ATF, Alameda County Narcotics Task Force, Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force). Lt. Chan was previously assigned as Commander of the Area 2 Special Resource Section Problem Solving Officers and Crime Reduction Team. He was also a Swing shift and Graveyard Patrol Division Watch Commander for three years.
