A chartered quantity surveyor and project manager experienced in both the commercial and public sectors of the construction industry.Between 1997 and 2003 Robert was Commission Director responsible for the South West Project Partnering Commission for Defence Estates. The Commission involved approximately £120m of capital construction works over 5 years on 65 different projects.In 1999, Robert was instrumental in establishing Citex Prime Solutions, a specialist company set up within the Citex Group to deliver the first Prime Contract in the UK, the £45m Andover North Site Redevelopment for Defence Estates/MOD.Robert continued his partnering involvement over a five period as Commission Director for Pembrokeshire Council Framework Agreements. Projects included various school extensions and refurbishments, leisure facilities and group repair schemes within the conservation areas of West Wales, with typical construction values up to £1 million.Robert has managed a number of high quality residential schemes over the last 10 years for Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey, with a combined construction value of over £200 million. Projects included high rise/mixed use schemes, care homes, schools and major infrastructure works.Robert has gained valuable grant funding experience working with the Heritage Lottery Fund and WEFO on the refurbishment of the Newbridge Institute and Memorial Hall. The project involves the external and internal refurbishment of the Grade II star listed building, including the restoration of the ‘Art Deco’ interior of the old cinema/auditorium. The project was opened by the Prince of Wales in November 2014.Robert has recently been involved in delivering major rail infrastructure projects for First Great Western and Network Rail. Projects have included multi-million pound grant applications to the Department for Transport to support major capital investment bids for station improvements and Access for All solutions.
