Every business has to consider the importance of government relations and lobbying to protect its interests in a complex business environment with regulatory and legal challenges at every turn. Businesses face these challenges everyday on the local, state and federal level. Those that understand the challenges and work to manage them are successful. Those that don't, rarely succeed. As a trade association, our primary role is to advocate for our members' interests on the local, state and federal level. I do this by managing government relations, regulatory affairs and lobbying efforts in the United States, the Caribbean and Mexico. I work to oppose legislation that is harmful to our members, owners and our industry. I also work proactively with legislators to propose and pass legislation that is beneficial to our industry, members and owners.I also advocate for our members by managing our relationships with state attorneys general in the United States. I represent ARDA with the Democratic Attorneys General Association, the Republican Attorneys General Association, the National Association of Attorneys General and the Conference of Western Attorneys General. I am legislative counsel for ARDA and also manage outside litigation. I have extensive legal experience in transactions and commercial litigation in state and federal courts regarding business agreements, intellectual property and real estate.I am an experienced public speaker and have done extensive media interviews regarding issues in our industry.
