As the Managing Partner at Aquila Recovery of Virginia, I lead the strategic direction and oversee the day-to-day operations of our organization, ensuring the highest standard of care and service delivery for our clients. In addition to managing our team, I am dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community both within our facility and in the wider community.In this role, I am also responsible for cultivating partnerships with other organizations, developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices, and driving business development initiatives to expand our reach and impact. I provide leadership and guidance to our staff, empowering them to deliver exceptional care and support to our clients as they navigate their recovery journey.Moreover, as a managing partner, I actively engage with our community, participating in outreach programs, awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts to reduce stigma and promote understanding around addiction and mental health. With extensive experience in both business and personal recovery, I have made a positive impact in the advocacy and development of recovery support programs. As a founding member of the DC Recovery Community Alliance, I advocated for peer recovery support in every DC hospital. I contributed to the development of a message for Faces and Voices of Recovery, empowering individuals to advocate for the Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act. Additionally, as the Executive Director of Aquila Recovery Clinic, I facilitated the development of a front-line treatment program. As a consultant, I provide business development and licensing support to addiction treatment providers.

Recovery Works Counseling is a treatment placement and recovery support company that does three things:1. Helps families find the best clinical program to meet the needs of their loved ones and to do it at no cost.2. Provides weekly recovery support for clients returning from residential and/or intensive outpatient treatment programs. 3. Works with the professional medical community to provide “recovery check-ups” in an effort to move addiction treatment from an acute care model to one of recovery management that promotes sustained recovery and prevent relapse.

As Executive Director I have guided the start-up of Aquila Recovery from conception to the successful fulfillment of all the regulatory requirements of the DC government. Along with our management team I have built a staff that is highly qualified and passionate about changing the lives of those seeking recovery.Aquila Recovery has recently earned accreditation from The Joint Commission on Accreditation. As a benefits consultant for AYA, I worked to advise clients on the design and implementation of both fully insured and self-insured medical insurance plans. Most recently my efforts have involved offering strategic advice to help clients deal with the changing landscape under healthcare reform. I’ve testified before the Department of Health and Human Services on what should be included in the “essential benefits” package of the Affordable Care Act. My direct access to policymakers has given me a perspective that is beneficial to my clients.In addition to my benefits activities, I have managed the relationship with 35 retirement plans with assets in excess of $100,000,000.00.
